Susan Boyle? Vervet monkeys? What does this week’s discussion have to do with training?
Not a darn thing. This discussion appealed more to the Economics major in me than the Performance Technologist. I’d argue that this isn’t out of the scope of this blog, however. Check my About page. Check my tag line. I’m more about identifying that which we can learn from the world around us. I’ll likely apply it to training, but not always.
For the sticklers among you, I offer this:

Scientists have long known that monkeys provide goods for other services. What they wondered was: is there an exchange rate? Do monkeys adjust what they are willing to provide based upon the perceived value of the skill?
